Victor James Osimhen was born in Lagos on the 29th of December, 1998 to the family of Mr. Patrick Osimhen. Victor James Osimhen hails from Edo state, Nigeria. Victor James Osimhen is the last born of 6 children of Mr and Mrs Osimhen. He was raised by his father, following the demise of his mother. Unfortunately, his father, Mr Patrick Osimhen passed away in 2020 at 80 years of age.

Victor Osimhen attended Olusosun primary school in Ikeja, Lagos state. Victor Osimhen football career started in 2015 at the Nigerian football club Ultimate Strikers Academy which is based in Lagos stae.
In January 2016, after being noticed for his performances at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, Osimhen committed to a pre-contract with VfL Wolfsburg (a club in Germany), stipulating that he would officially join the club in January 2017. On the 22nd of August 2018, Osimhen joined Belgian club Charleroi on a season-long loan deal, having failed to score in any of his 16 appearances with Wolfsburg. At Charleroi, Victor Osimhen played 36 games and scored 20 goals, Charleroi activated their buy option to acquire Osimhen following his satisfactory performances while on loan.
In July 2019, Osimhen signed for Lille (a club in France). Victor James Osimhen scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League on 2 October 2019, coming in a 1–2 home defeat to English side Chelsea. The Nigerian finished the season as Lille’s top scorer, with 13 goals in 25 Ligue 1 matches, and 18 goals across all competitions. His strong goalscoring performances saw Osimhen tipped by many to be in running for the African Footballer of the Year award in the near future
On the 31st of July, 2020, Victor Osimhen transferred to Serie A club Napoli for a club-record fee of €70 million, making him one of the most expensive African transfers to date. Victor Osimhen currently plays No. 9 at Napoli.
Victor Osimhen was named to the squad of the Nigeria under-17 team that won the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile, where Victor James Osimhen won the Golden Boot and Silver Ball awards.
