A lady who did her convocation at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) on the 8th of December, 2022 has shared her story why she left the department of Biochemistry to Psychology department.

The story was shared on the blue bird app (Twitter).

According to her, she was performing badly academically when she was in Biochemistry department. It got worst when she started having F in some of her course which led her to be depressed. However, she made the decision to leave Biochemistry department for Psychology in her year 2.

She wrote;

JESUS DID IT 👩‍🎓👩‍🎓 🎉🎉>>>

A few weeks to resuming school as a freshman in OAU, I lost my mum. That was a redefining moment for me. I lost every sense of meaningfulness to life, yet, it was a phase that demanded focus and determination. I struggled with depression.

I sought for joy in needless places, I had little motivation to live and In the midst of it all I had to write exams. The end result wasn’t one of “I scaled through it all”, I did so bad in academics with Es,D’s, and finally the F that opened my eyes.

At the end of year two in Biochemistry dept, I successfully transferred to Psychology dept, It took me a few years to get back on my feet. This was my second chance. At the second chance, I fought battles, I cried, I laughed amidst the rough experience.

However, I’m grateful I found God towards the end of my journey there,thankful He held my hands, I didn’t have to do life on my own anymore. I gave life a second shot and I went from 1.86 cgpa in Biochemistry to graduating with 3.92 cgpa in Psychology at Obafemi Awolowo University.

Now see what the Lord has done!

My story will never be complete without my mom’s impact, neither will it be complete without my dad’s sacrifice.

For everyone trusting God for an academic breakthrough.

I pray that the Lord would grant you the finishing grace, your hands that started the foundation, the same hands will complete it! If you’re reading this and this is you, my dm is open to you, I’d love to hear from you ❤️
I am a living testimony!
